Daian Sumner | Associate

Daian is an Associate in the Litigation Department of the BVI office. She routinely handles complex corporate and commercial disputes including shareholder disputes, insolvency matters, fraud and asset tracing, and trust litigation.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) in 2003 from Manchester Metropolitan University, England and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004.

Prior to relocating to the BVI in 2016, she was a practising barrister with a strong commercial and chancery practice. She has extensive court experience, including trial work, complex applications and enforcement proceedings.

Daian is a qualified mediator having been awarded accreditations from the ADR Group and the International Academy of Dispute Resolution in civil and commercial mediation.

She has taught law at undergraduate and postgraduate degree level at a number of institutions, including Hong Kong University. She was also appointed by the Bar Standards Board as an external examiner on the Bar Professional Training Course.

Daian is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn; the Chancery Bar Association; the British Irish Commercial Bar Association; the Bar of England and Wales (non-practicing); and the Civil Mediation Council. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
