Dwight Glinton | Senior Associate

Dwight is a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Insolvency and Restructuring Groups at Lennox Paton. He has experience in a wide sphere of civil litigation. His practice has included Banking, Finance, Securities and Equity litigation; Admiralty and Shipping proceedings; Personal Injury negligence claims; Fraud; Contentious Probate and Trust matters along with Employment disputes. Dwight has represented very large local and international corporate entities in complex legal disputes. Also, he has been involved with litigation spanning multiple jurisdictions such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Dwight joined Lennox Paton in 2012 and previously worked for another large corporate firm in the Bahamas. His work experience has included practicing in the litigation department of one of the top five law firms in Beijing, China where he assisted in corporate disputes between foreign and Chinese investors.

Dwight obtained an LLB from the University of Hertfordshire, England and was called to the Bar in London at Inner Temple in 1998. Soon thereafter, he was called to the Bar in The Bahamas and has practiced mainly in this jurisdiction since that time. Dwight is an active member of the Bahamas Bar Association and participates regularly in its events.

He is fluent in Spanish and speaks French and Mandarin Chinese.

Advised an international bank in the termination of manager.Prepared an employee handbook for a major retailer.

Successfully defended an investment company in litigation involving mortgaged shares in an American company registered in on United Kingdom exchange that were sold to third parties in Canada and Hong Kong.

Obtained judgment for an investment bank against a client in a dispute arising from a margin loan facility in which shares were held as security.

Obtained a declaration in favour of a developer of a mixed use Family Island resort in a land title dispute.

Successfully represented a resort in an action against a local council and the central government of The Bahamas in a land title dispute. The relief obtained included an injunction against the government to stop the construction of a building.

Successfully represented a major international bank in an action involving the construction of a trust.
