Jody Lashley | Associate

Jody is an Associate in the Litigation Group, having joined Lennox Paton in September 2011 for pupillage.

Jody commenced her studies at the College of The Bahamas where she obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Law and Criminal Justice with distinction. She then studied at the University of Nottingham, in Nottingham, England where she obtained her LLB with Upper Second Class Honours in 2009. Thereafter, she completed the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School, in London, England in 2010.  She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2010 and later called to the Bar of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in December 2010. Jody also attended the London School of Economics in London, England, where she obtained an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law with merit in December 2011.

Jody's practice covers a variety of commercial and civil litigation, including areas of insolvency, trusts, contract, banking, commercial crimes and personal injury. She has appeared as Junior Counsel in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal in The Bahamas and has worked along with international legal teams in international cases.

Jody is a member of the Honourable Society of Inner Temple and The Bahamas Bar Association. She is also a member of Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise.

Acted on behalf of foreign creditors in the winding up of Bahamian company;

Assisted in a property dispute arising out of incorrect title documents;

Assisted in the settlement of a product liability claim;

Acted in a personal injury case to recover damages for the victim of a traffic accident;

Acted for a party in relation to a contractual dispute;

Acted for the owner of a condo in a lease agreement dispute;

Assisted in several cases involving misappropriation of funds.
