Karen Havice | Special Counsel

Karen is Special Counsel in the Real Estate Group. She has substantial experience in commercial real estate and resort matters including real estate and cruise ships with an emphasis on development, acquisitions and sales, and financing.

Her development work includes structuring and drafting documentation for timeshare/fractional projects, condominiums, condominium hotels, and mixed-use projects, and includes representation of several major brands.  Her acquisition and sales work includes representation of buyers and sellers of mixed-use projects, residential property, and timeshare/fractional projects.  Her financing work includes representation of lenders and borrowers in acquisition loans, development loans, refinancings, and timeshare receivables transactions.  She also has represented clients in connection with drafting timeshare legislation in Florida and The Bahamas.

Prior to joining Lennox Paton, Karen was a partner at a major United States law firm and handled domestic and international matters.

Karen studied law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law where she graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1990.

Karen is a Florida Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer.  She is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been honored as a Florida Superlawyer in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Karen is a member of the Florida Bar Association, a non-practicing member of the Georgia Bar Association, and received a Permit from the Government of The Bahamas.  She also is a member of the American Resort Development Association and Phi Beta Kappa.
