Laura Harris | Senior Associate

Laura is a Senior Associate based in the Nassau office. She joined the firm in 2003 and has worked in both the Nassau and London office. Laura has significant experience, and works in the firm’s Shipping and Corporate and Commercial Groups.

Laura studied at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1998. She went on to study at the University of Buckingham where she received a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 2000 and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International and Commercial law in 2001. Laura attended BPP Law School where she studied the Bar Vocational Course in 2002.  Laura was called to the Bahamas Bar in 2002.

Laura provides advice to international law firms and major banks on a variety of corporate matters and ship finance transactions involving vessel registration, mortgage registration and sale and purchase.

Laura is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn and the Bahamas Bar Association.

Laura's recent work has included the following:

  • Advising BNP Paribas and other Lenders on Amendments to a £235m Term Loan & Revolving Letter of Credit Facility, Standby Letter of Credit Facility, and Four Commercial Loans and Buyer Credit Loans.
  • Advising Calyon and other Lenders and Stephenson Harwood on the US$255,528,228.43 (senior loan) and US$80m (junior loan) financing of 4 new buildings.
  • Advising Citibank International Plc and other Lenders and Norton Rose on the financing of 3 vessels.
  • Advising DnB NOR Bank ASA and other Lenders and Watson Farley & Williams on the syndicated financing of 2 LNG vessels.
  • Advising Nordea Bank Finland Plc and other Lenders and Stephenson Harwood on the financing of 19 vessels.
  • Advising Deutsche Schiffsbank Aktiengesellschaft and other Lenders and Stephenson Harwood on the US$940m financing of 18 vessels.
